The Shaker Pines Fire Department offers a variety of public education opportunities. Our goal is to educate our District residents to help them feel comfortable in and out of their homes.
First Aid & Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
Did you know that it only takes 6 minutes from the time a person goes into Cardio-Pulmonary arrest that brain damage starts? Do you know what to do in a medical emergency? Do you have the training to help save a life? The Shaker Pines Fire Department is proud to offer this training to residents and businesses in the area. We can provide training for:
The mom and dad to be
The soccer or baseball coach
The local business looking to get their employees trained in these life savings skills
CPR & AED
These programs are designed to give you the confidence to respond in an emergency situation with skills that can save a life. The Shaker Pines Fire Department offers initial and recertification classes for American Heart Association CPR with AED, Pediatric First Aid w/CPR, and HealthCare Provider CPR.
Simply fill out an online form to be added to the list for an upcoming class. Be sure to indicate which class you are interested in. Once the class is scheduled, you will be notified by either email and/or telephone.
HeartSaver 1st Aid, CPR with AED is a combined 1st Aid and CPR class for the general public, covering adult, child, and infant. Best curriculum for coaches, hikers, and sports players.
Pediatric 1st Aid with CPR and AED is a combined 1st aid and CPR class for parents to be, parents, grandparents, and babysitters. The CPR portion covers adult, child, and infant.
HealthCare Provider CPR with AED. This curriculum covers CPR in a professional setting used by MD’s, Paramedics, EMT’s, EMR’s, RN’s, LPN’s, Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants, CNA’s, etc.
All classes will be held at the Shaker Pines Firehouse. The fees to the student are the minimal class cost, the costs of a Student Workbook and a Course Completion or Certification card.
Child Car Seat Installations
The Shaker Pines Fire Department is a State of Connecticut Department of Transportation approved Child Car Seat Fitting Station. Parents should call to set up an appointment. In order to allow enough time for your seats to be checked, please arrive early as it takes about ½ hour to check each car seat in your vehicle.
The Shaker Pines Fire Department has 3 State of Connecticut Department
of Transportation certified Child Car Seat installers. Car seats can be
installed and/or inspected in your vehicle Monday through Friday from 8
a.m. - 3 p.m., normal working hours.
If you have any questions regarding car seats and/or installations,

p.m. Car seats can also be installed by appointment by calling
Firefighter Joe at 860-558-4676.
Juvenile Fire-Setter Intervention Program
The Enfield Juvenile Fire-Setter Intervention Program was established in October 1992 to combat the ever-increasing problem of juvenile fire-setting and fireplay within the town of Enfield. Presently, there are 4 active members representing 4 of the 5 fire districts. The program averages 15 cases per year, with requests for information from another 10.
The Enfield Juvenile
Fire-Setter Intervention Program targets children up to 14 years of age
who have been involved in “fireplay,” or fire-setting activity. Children
are referred to the program from family members, schools, fire
departments, juvenile review boards and other outside agencies. The
children are required to work with a Juvenile Fire-Setter
Interventionist for a total of 8 hours. During this time, both fire
safety education and social skill-building exercises are covered.
The Enfield Juvenile Fire-Setter Intervention Program is sponsored by
the Enfield Fire Marshal’s Association at no cost to the families of the
